After spending a half an hour getting this thing out of the box, I was ready to try it out. Then I read that you have to charge it for 10 hours in order to get 35 min. of use. Weird, but whatever, I’ll try it. 12 hours later, I eagerly went to use it, and when I turned it on, it ran for about 4 seconds and pooped out. I thought, maybe I did something wrong, so I checked all the instructions, plugged it in on a different outlet and…NOTHING! That’s O.K., I didn’t really want to rip out my nose hairs anyway.

After reading through tons of reviews I finally decided to purchase (through a different website) this product for my husband and myself. After getting it in the mail, it was quite an ordeal getting it out of the plastic packaging, it seemed decent although the attachments felt a bit cheap. My husband was the first to use it and he said it worked fine (trimming his very short beard with the attachment) and he used the nose trimmer and said that worked fine. He could not use the ear trimmer b/c he said it was way too loud. I then used it to trim my pubic hair and bikini line…ouch! I used both trimmer heads (one with the eyebrow trimming attachment) and both of them snagged my hairs and also snagged my skin making me bleed. My husband then used it again to trim his neck and under his chin…snagged him a lot and made him bleed quite a bit. He also said the shaving attachment did not do a very good job.
I will be returning this product to the manufacturer as it has a 45 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with it.

I have owned three other trimmers from Norelco. They all worked well except the battery dies and then you end up throwing them. Now I bought T980 which works while it is plugged in also. So if its battery dies, it will continue to be useful.
G480, however, is bad product overall. It trims reasonable well IF you can figure out how to use the length control plastic part. When used directly on the skin as in shave mode, it pulls hair instead of cutting them.

Norelco has improved the product somewhat over the years in terms of features and styling, but hopefully kept the durability and functionality of this long-running mid-priced beard trimmer.
